UIL Class 4A baseball state semifinals

A

Rockwall Heath vs. Montgomery

4 p.m., Dell Diamond, Round Rock

Records: Rockwall Heath 34-9, Montgomery 29-13

Notable: Montgomery has given up 3.9 runs per game in 12 post-season games.... The Bears lost their first playoff game this season against Willis, but have since rattled off 10 victories in 11 games.... Montgomery's Will Fox is hitting .389 and Ty Boland .369. Those bats must come alive to keep pace against Heath.... The Bears' only other state-tournament appearance was in 2005.... Heath has given up two runs per game in 11 playoff contests, but the offense has countered with 8.6 a game.... The Hawks have been shut out twice in the playoffs.... Heath pitchers Jovan Hernandez and Jake Thompson are a combined 20-2 on the season... Heath will jump from 4A to 5A next season.

Austin Lake Travis vs. Cleburne

7 p.m., Dell Diamond, Round Rock

Records: Lake Travis 33-10, Cleburne 29-10

Notable: Cleburne pitcher German Hernandez puts his 5-0 playoff record and 0.96 ERA on the line against the Cavaliers. He's dominated in two one-game playoffs already, mixing a variety of breaking pitches with great off-speed location.... If Cleburne's offense scores early, Hernandez could move to third base, and be saved for work in the championship game.... Cleburne has four pitchers that can find the plate, so depth is a real key for the Yellow Jackets.... Lake Travis' offense is averaging 7.2 runs per game in the playoffs.... Lake Travis outfielder Ryne Martinez is hitting .402.... Lake Travis moves up to 5A next season. Cleburne beat 4A-to-5A mover Waco Midway last week.... The Cavaliers will send lefty Philip Orr (11-1) to the mound. He's made four post-season appearances, and given up only one unearned run.
