About deportation

I had a good laugh when I read the May 28 article "U.S., Mexico in talks over deportations." The U.S. wants to fly the criminal deportees deep into Central Mexico rather than releasing them just across the border. This will delay their return to the U.S. by a week, two at the most.

This reminded me of an old Uncle Remus tale Dad used to tell me. The sly old fox caught Br'er Rabbit and threatened to have him for dinner. Br'er Rabbit begged the fox not to eat him. The fox said: I can put you in the well or turn you loose in the briar patch.

Br'er Rabbit begged, Please don't put me in the briar patch. The briars are sharp and will scratch my skin. Put me in the well where it is cool and there is plenty of water. The fox carried Br'er Rabbit to the briar patch and turned him loose, and he hopped off, happy to be home.

The rabbit outfoxed the fox. It is fairly easy to outfox some officials.
