On Saturday, I had the privilege of pinning new graduates at Texas Wesleyan University's graduation ceremony. One of the speakers asked all graduates to rise who had received special help from one or more Wesleyan professors. Every graduate stood.
I stood, too, with tears in my eyes.In 1970, I was a troubled young man. Even though I came from a family of achievers, I had just finished a short and very mediocre tenure at a big public university. My future was very much in doubt.I transferred to Wesleyan because my sister had gone there. Magic began to happen immediately.I got help with everything. My professors knew me and were not about to see me fail. Gradually, I found a way to succeed. In April 1974, I married the love of my life. In May 1974, I graduated from Wesleyan. I went on to a successful career in hospital administration. As God is my witness, anything that I have amounted to in this life is to the credit to His grace, Kay Denis and Texas Wesleyan University.-- Michael Denis, M.S., Class of '74, Corinth
