Authorities have identified two Fort Worth men in their 20s who died Monday in a collision between a tow truck and a Cadillac traveling the wrong way on Texas 287.

Eric Jordan, 25, and Christopher Brookins, 24, were pronounced dead within minutes of each other after their southbound Cadillac slammed head-on into a northbound tow truck in the 600 block of Texas 287, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s web site.

The collision occurred about 2:15 a.m. near Riverside Drive, police said.

Police found no evidence of impairment in the Cadillac, but witnesses have said the two men had left a downtown club just before the wreck. Jordan's birthday was on Monday, according to records with the medical examiner's office.

A third man, the tow truck driver, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a broken leg, according to police. His condition is unknown.

Police continue to investigate as they try to determine the circumstances surrounding the wreck.

Both sides of Highway 287 were closed for about four hours. The highway reopened about 6:30 a.m.
