HALTOM CITY -- Making its playoff debut, Keller Timber Creek coach Brad Mouser wasn't sure what to expect from his team that has only three seniors on the second-year varsity squad.
Mouser certainly didn't get the start he wanted as his team turned the ball over on five of its first six possessions, while Fort Worth Arlington Heights made its first six to open a quick 13-0 lead.
That cushion was enough for the Yellow Jackets to claim a 69-44 Class 4A Region I bi-district playoff victory at Thomas Coliseum. With the win, Heights (21-9) advances to the area round where it will meet Arlington Seguin this week.
"It's not what I expected at the beginning, because that's a good team that won 23 games this year," Arlington Heights coach Josh Welch said.
"We wanted to dictate the tempo and pressure them and speed it up and not get into their type of game of slowing things down."
Timber Creek (23-10) got its first points with just over three minutes left in the quarter from Ray Munson, who scored the Falcons' first three baskets as they found themselves down 24-6 after one quarter.
Heights took advantage of its size to dominate Timber Creek on the glass, attempting 14 more shots in the first half and ending the game with 19 offensive rebounds.
A'shawn Robinson a 6-foot-6 forward, and 6-8 forward Damontre McFarland had 14 and nine points, respectively.
Timber Creek was led by Munson, who had 14 points, and Jon Hatcher added 10.
The Falcons were down by as many as 19 in the first half and couldn't get any closer than 15.
