Widespread and steady rain Saturday pushed totals in Dallas-Fort Worth to 4 inches above normal for the year.
Most areas around the Metroplex received 1 to 2 inches of rain Friday and Saturday, said Dennis Cavanaugh, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.Cavanaugh said more rain was reported Saturday near Lampasas, Temple and Waco, with 2 to 3 inches.McGregor Municipal Airport near Waco reported a little over 4 inches, he said.Cavanaugh said that even though more rain is needed, Tarrant County is no longer considered a "drought designation," unlike counties in the region such as Johnson and Ellis."This time last year, we were 2 inches below normal," Cavanaugh said.He said skies should clear today, and the only chance for more rain during the week would be 20 percent Monday evening. Today's temperatures are forecast to reach the mid- to upper 50s. Temperatures are expected to climb to the 60s Monday and Tuesday, with lows in the 40s. By Thursday, the area will warm up even more, Cavanaugh said.Susan McFarland, 817-390-7684Twitter: @susanmcfarland1Have more to add? News tip? Tell us
