Arlington Martin running back Kyle Hicks verbally committed to Texas on Saturday night, less than a week after visiting the campus for a Longhorns junior day.
Hicks also had offers from TCU, Arkansas and Texas Tech, among others.
"I've always wanted to play football there, since I was a little kid," Hicks said. "But I went up there and saw the coaches and got to know them a lot and they are just a great group of guys. So I just wanted to go ahead and commit."
Hicks said that it is a solid verbal commitment and that he does not plan to make any visits to other schools. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound back is coming off a season in which he produced 1,850 all-purpose yards and scored 29 touchdowns as Martin went 12-2, its best season in school history.
