ARLINGTON -- Mansfield Timberview received a bit of revenge on Monday night.

Timberview played Colleyville Heritage last year in the bi-district round of the Class 5A girls basketball playoffs, but walked away this year with a different result.

The Lady Wolves avenged the loss from the previous year with a 50-47 victory at Arlington Lamar High School.

Timberview (25-9) will next take on Southlake Carroll in the area round.

"Certainly we remember that loss extremely well," Timberview coach Candi Harvey said about last year's 50-46 loss. "They come out of a tough district and we knew that we would have our hands full."

Lili Thompson gave the Lady Wolves their first lead since early in the first quarter with a layup a minute into the fourth quarter that gave Timberview a 38-36 lead.

But on the ensuing possession, Colleyville Heritage (21-11) answered. Selina Apodaca hit a deep 3-pointer to give the Lady Panthers the lead, but it would be the last time they would be on top.

With the score tied at 43-43 with a 1:15 left in the game, JaLea Bennett banked in a 3-pointer to give Timberview a 46-43 lead, one that they wouldn't surrender.

"I heard her call it, so it's fine," Harvey said of the banked shot.

Thompson hit a pair of free throws for Timberview in the final seconds, followed by a desperation shot by Heather Roberts to make it a 50-47 final.

"We wanted to come back and win. I didn't get to play in that game last year, so I wanted to come out and contribute to the team," said Thompson, who sat out last year's game with a foot injury.

Caroline Gonzalez led Colleyville Heritage with nine points.

"That was inexperience at the end. We start a lot of sophomores and juniors, and I only have one senior, so a lot of them haven't been in this sort of situation because it's their first playoff game," Colleyville Heritage coach Dianna Sager said. "We had nine seniors last year and didn't really bring many people back, so I'm proud that these girls got here."
