Arlington Martin running back Kyle Hicks adds Texas to offer list

By: By Jarret Johnson

Arlington Martin running back Kyle Hicks picked up another offer Sunday while visiting Texas for junior day in Austin.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back is coming off a junior season in which he gained 1,850 all-purpose yards and scored 29 touchdowns in helping the Warriors to their most successful season in school history at 12-2.

Hicks has already received offers from Arkansas, TCU and Texas Tech among others but can now officially add the Longhorns to the mix.

"It was overwhelming, a dream come true," Hicks said. "I enjoyed eating lunch with the coaches where they tell you what they think of you, and I got to talk with coach [Mack] Brown. I liked seeing the facilities, they were cool -- the weight room and the stadium, DKR."

Hicks said that he is keeping his recruitment open and that whether he'd get to attend another school's junior day will depend on his mother's schedule.

"I don't really have a list of top schools," Hicks said. "I like Texas and I like TCU. I also like Oregon but they haven't offered me yet."

Carroll QB visits Tech

Southlake Carroll quarterback Kenny Hill attended Texas Tech's junior day Saturday. The dual threat QB has attracted a lot of attention since leading the Dragons to their record-tying eighth UIL state championship in December.

"My mom and I went out there," Hill said. "My favorite part was talking with the coaches and meeting some of the players. That was cool."

Hill added that he met and hung out with wide receiver Bradley Marquez and quarterback Seth Doege.

"I feel better about Tech after visiting. I like it more," Hill said.

The Red Raiders offered him back in January but Hill also has been offered by Baylor and Texas A&M and visited both schools on their junior days.

Hill plans on visiting Texas on Feb. 25, Stanford on March 2 and then LSU in mid-March.
