FORT WORTH -- A robbery suspect accused of wounding a man who was trying to protect his father last week has been arrested, police said Thursday.

Glen Latel Powe, 18, was being held without bail in the Mansfield Jail on Thursday night facing three charges of robbery and one of aggravated assault, a jail officer said.

Powe is accused of robbing a 57-year-old man about 4 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Ace Motel in 3100 block of South Riverside Drive, and then shooting the man's 22-year-old son when he came to help. Police are still seeking a second suspect.

The son's condition could not be learned Thursday.

Powe is also a suspect in a robbery Nov. 19 at the Silver Horse Saloon in the 3300 block of East Lancaster Avenue.

A man told police that a robber pushed him to the ground and then held a black semiautomatic handgun to the back of his head, according to a search warrant affidavit. The robber grabbed the man's wallet and cellphone, got into a white Lincoln and headed east on East Lancaster, the affidavit stated. A witness and a man working security at the club followed the Lincoln until it had to stop for a train. The only occupant of the Lincoln got out and fired a shot, they told police. The gunman then drove off.

That night the Lincoln was found in the 900 block of Chicago Avenue. Inside, officers found the stolen cellphone and Powe's Texas ID card, police said.

The next day, Powe called police to report that his 1995 Lincoln Continental had been stolen after he had car trouble in the 2500 block of Interstate 30 at about same the time the robbery victim said his cellphone and money were taken.

Police used the information to prepare an arrest warrant for Powe, according to the affidavit.
