The districts that produced the teams in the Class 5A Division I state championship were also the big winners on National Signing Day. District 7-5A, the Northeast Tarrant area district that included state champ Southlake Carroll, produced 18 Division I FBS players, more than any other district in the state, according to a Star-Telegram analysis. District 23-5A, home to runner-up Fort Bend Hightower, was No. 2 on the list with 17 FBS recruits. Of the 398 players who signed Feb. 1, 70 percent stayed close to home: in Texas or one of its bordering states.
