FORT WORTH — A driver was killed Wednesday afternoon on southbound Interstate 35W when he tried to drive across two lanes of traffic, lost control and was hit head-on by an 18-wheeler, police said.
The identity of the victim had not been released by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office as of Thursday morning.The wreck occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 4800 block of the freeway, near East Felix Street.The motorist entered the freeway at the Felix Street on-ramp, traveling at a high rate of speed, according to police reports.The driver lost control and the car spun, police said.The vehicle ended up facing northbound and was hit by a southbound 18-wheeler, police said.The truck driver suffered minor injuries, police said.Domingo Ramirez Jr., 817-390-7763Twitter: @stcrime
