The Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine saw fourth-quarter revenue rise 5.2 percent to $58.7 million, thanks to higher occupancy and room rates aided by its holiday "DreamWorks Experience" offerings. The property filled 74.4 percent of its rooms at an average price of $184.89.
The Texan's corporate parent, Gaylord Entertainment, racked up a 26 percent increase in revenue, to $269.4 million in the quarter, but the comparable 2010 period was hurt by the closure of Gaylord Opryland and other Nashville properties due to flooding. Gaylord said it earned $5.1 million, or 10 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, up from a loss the previous year but short of Wall Street's consensus estimate of 15 cents.Jim Fuquay, 817-390-7552Twitter: @jimfuquayHave more to add?
