Rain on the way for Dallas-Fort Worth

If rain isn't your kind of weather, North Texas won't be your kind of place Friday.

The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth is predicting lots of rain, which could start late Thursday but certainly will be here by early Friday.

Before the rain arrives, North Texans will see partly sunny skies Thursday, with a high temperature in the mid-70s.

But then showers and thunderstorms pay a visit. There's a 30 percent chance of rain Thursday evening, the weather service's hourly forecast indicates.

Some areas could see severe storms that dump up to three inches of rain Friday.

Forecasters say there's a 70 percent chance of rain early Friday, increasing to 80 percent at daybreak.

"We could see multiple storms going over the same area, and that could cause some flooding," said meteorologist Daniel Huckaby in the Fort Worth office.

Huckaby said the rain could affect both the morning and afternoon commutes on Friday.

Friday morning's forecast low is in the low 60s, with a high in the mid-70s.

All the rains will be here ahead of a cold front which is expected to arrive late Friday.

The front will usher in cooler temperatures for the weekend. Saturday will bring lows in the mid to upper 40s and a high in the low 60s.

Sunday will dawn with a low in the mid-30s, warming to the mid-50s in the afternoon.

Those cool temperatures will stay around through Wednesday.
