FORT WORTH -- John Michael Tesi was found guilty Tuesday afternoon of aggravated assault of a public servant.

Tesi, who has claimed that he is a "sovereign citizen" and not subject to local, state and federal laws, was involved in a shootout with Colleyville police officer John Fossett on July 21, 2011.

Tesi and Fossett exchanged at least 15 shots as the uniformed officer tried to arrest Tesi at his north Hurst home. Tesi was shot in the leg and face; Fossett was not injured.

Tesi faces life in prison.
