Trinity's Manukainiu commits to Texas A&M

A

Euless Trinity defensive end Polo Manukainiu wasn't shy about making his college announcement, choosing KDFW/Channel 4's Sports Sunday as the platform to announce his intention to attend Texas A&M.

"I love the tradition and the fans and the coaching staff," he told KDFW's Max Morgan.

Manukainiu, 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds, committed to Oklahoma in September before reopening his recruitment in December.

He visited Baylor and UCLA earlier in the month and considered the Bears and Arkansas, in addition to Utah.

Sanchez set to decide

Keller Central receiver/defensive back Zack Sanchez said that he plans on making his college choice sometime today.

Sanchez, who has been committed to Baylor since last summer, picked up an offer from Oklahoma earlier this month and visited Norman over the weekend.

He took an official visit to Waco last weekend and received an in-home visit from new Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops on Wednesday.

The Star-Telegram Super Team Defensive Player of the Year had nine interceptions (two for TDs) this past season, along with 1,100 total yards of offense and 17 touchdowns.

Frogs lose another

According to a report by the Longview News-Journal, Carthage safety Edward Pope, a four-star recruit who had been committed to TCU since February, has switched his commitment to Texas A&M.

Pope took an official visit to College Station over the weekend.

Late additions

A day after securing a commitment from Pflugerville Hendrickson running back Daje Johnson, who had been committed to TCU since last spring, Texas picked up another pledge from Van linebacker Dalton Santos.

Santos, who had been committed to Tennessee since August, and Johnson visited the Texas campus over the weekend, along with Plano West defensive end Bryce Cottrell, an Oregon commitment.

Hood picks Wildcats

Arlington Bowie defensive tackle Demonte Hood said that he has committed to Kansas State.

Hood, 6-2, 290, posted 60 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks while dealing with a knee injury that sidelined him for three games last season.

He also considered Michigan State.

Briefly

Arlington Martin offensive lineman Connor Trussell committed to North Texas and chose the Mean Green over New Mexico and Louisiana-Monroe.

Keller Central OL/DL Simon Goines will decide between Missouri and UCLA, Central coach Bart Helsley said.

Mansfield quarterback Jerod Evans committed to Air Force after considering Memphis and North Texas, Mansfield coach Jeff Hulme said.
