Skaters stumble against Keller

The Mansfield hockey team suffered a difficult defeat Jan. 19, getting dominated by Keller 9-3 at the Euless Dr Pepper Stars Center.

The loss puts Mansfield at 8-6-2 for the season, and in fourth place of the Varsity Silver South division in the AT&T Metroplex High School Hockey League.

Mansfield got off to a good start in the game, leading 2-1 after a period of play.

Bobby Baumeister got a goal in the period, his 12th of the season.

T.J. Brown was credited with an assist on the goal. Brown's assist was his 15th for the season.

Mansfield's other goal in the period came from Mike Mills, who scored on a penalty shot.

Mills' goal was his 15th goal of the season.

But in the final two periods, Mansfield was outscored 8-1.

Eight different players scored the nine goals for Keller, who currently sit in the top spot of the Varsity Silver South division.

In the third period, Spencer Ericksen got Mansfield's final goal, his 19th of the year.

Tanner Woody was credited with an assist. Woody's assist was his 12th for the season.

Joe Sheppard was in net for Mansfield, stopping 33 of 42 shots. Sheppard dropped to 4-4 for the year.

Mansfield is back on the ice Thursday against Flower Mound.

The teams meet at the Euless Dr Pepper Stars Center at 8:45 p.m.
