FridayTimberview 58, Legacy 25: Three players scored 12 points for the Lady Wolves, as they improved to 21-7 overall with a 7-2 District 5-5A record. The home loss for the Lady Broncos drops Legacy to 7-14 overall with a 1-7 district record.Terriell Bradley, Ather Cep and Lili Thompson had 12 points for Timberview, while Rylie Morrison led Legacy with 10 points.Summit 56, Granbury 33: The Lady Jaguars stayed perfect in District 7-4A action, working for the road win and improving to 24-3 overall with a 9-0 district record.Maya Hawkins led the way with 23 points for Summit, and Ashley Eli had 14 points in the win.Mansfield 70, Midlothian 42: The Lady Tigers improved to 19-7 overall with a strong showing in the second half of the District 5-5A win, also improving their district record to 6-3 following the home win.Keyra-Sue Johnson and Yvonna Maosa both had 18 points, while Taylor Wilborn had 11 points in the win.Jan. 17Summit 39, Seguin 34: Summit held off a late rally by Seguin to win 39-34 and remain undefeated atop District 7-4A.Junior guard Maya Hawkins scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the second half to lead Summit, ranked No. 4 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' 4A state poll, to its eighth consecutive victory.Hawkins spent most of the second quarter in the locker room because of an illness. Despite the virus, Hawkins wasn't going to miss her opportunity to defeat one of Summit's district rivals."I had a cold all week long and had a lot of mucus buildup, so I got out here and thought I was all right, but I was wrong," Hawkins said. "As soon as I got out here it all came back; I was vomiting, shaking and very sick. I just really wanted to beat Seguin, though, and said that I can puke after the game."After trailing 18-15 at halftime, Summit (24-3, 8-0) outscored Seguin 13-4 in the third quarter and finished the period on a 9-0 run to take a 28-22 lead. Hawkins and senior Ashley Eli made consecutive buckets in the opening minute of the fourth to push the lead to 10.Aundra Stovall swished a pair of free throws to stop the bleeding and end a scoring drought that lasted over seven minutes by the Lady Cougars. Seguin cut the lead to 32-30 with 4:43 left, but Hawkins converted a layup on the next possession and the Lady Jaguars held on to win.Junior guard Katrina Thompkins scored seven of her team-high nine points in the second half for Seguin (19-9, 5-3)."This is a huge win. That team is good," Summit coach Tammy Lusinger said.
