Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Refreshments USA has bought nearly 15 acres and a vacant commercial building on Fossil Creek Boulevard adjacent to its Fort Worth bottling and distribution facility.

The deal is "an acquisition for possible future expansion," said Ish Arebalos, Coca-Cola's spokesman in Fort Worth. "There are no plans yet."

The land and a 42,456-square-foot former office and showroom building are just east of Coca-Cola's facility, in operation since the early 1980s, he said.

The property is at the southwest corner of North Riverside Drive and Fossil Creek Boulevard. The building has been vacant about six years.

The Coca-Cola plant employs 820 workers and was expanded at least once since it opened about 30 years ago, Arebalos said.

The land was sold in two tracts. The tract with the building includes 10.4 acres and was sold by Dianne Sztamenits in Fort Worth, according to deed records.

The other tract, 4.2 acres, was sold by Hunt-Woodbine Realty Corp. in Dallas, deed records show.
