Just think about this ... all you have to do is bring an item worth $50 or more and you get free food and free drinks at this event!

This is the networking, VIP and gifting celebration called Couture & Cocktailz! for the Colleyville Woman's Club upcoming fashion show, and if it is like past year's celebrations, get ready to party. It will be held Feb. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the home of Patti and Chuck Irwin, 2208 Hawthorne Ave. in Colleyville. This soiree is not only a great opportunity to mix and mingle with many of the business people in our community, but an even better opportunity to just have fun.

The $50 item is going to be auctioned off at the Colleyville Woman's Club Fashion Show & Luncheon Benefit on March 23 at the Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Dr., Hurst.

All categories of items are welcome such as home goods, computer items, electronics and sports items; they just have to have a value of over $50. And face it, if you don't have time to think of something or grab something from your business, just get a $50 gift card. Those are always top items at any auction.

Now of course, because we are talking about free food and libations, they do need a head count, so let them know you are coming by either calling 817-897-0789 or by emailing at fundraising@c-w-c.org. Don't forget, I don't want them running out of drinkie poos because one of you forgot to RSVP.

Need an idea on what to do for Valentine's Day? Summer Santa, the largest children's charity in Northeast Tarrant County, has a great one.

On Feb. 12 at Palace Arts Center in Grapevine, you can wine, dine and entertain that special someone while spreading some compassion to the children of Northeast Tarrant County.

Paul Salos, America's Got Talent finalist, will perform a tribute concert to love and Frank Sinatra. Known for his amazing voice, Salos received high praises from the judges when he appeared on season three of the NBC television show where he advanced to the top 10.

Remember, this is the organization which brought Fauxprah, an Oprah impersonator and a stage show featuring a Tina Turner impersonator titled "What's Love Got To Do With It," so you know this is going to be great.

The evening for love will start at 6 p.m. with a reception catered by Cotton Patch Café in the Lancaster Theatre, then at 7 p.m. the concert will begin in the Palace Arts Center. Chocolates will be passed to enjoy at intermission followed by a short live auction of special weekend packages provided by Park Place Lexus of Grapevine. At the end of the concert, each woman will be presented with a rose.

What more can you ask for a Valentine's celebration than wine, food, chocolate, entertainment and flowers to show your feelings for someone while helping children.

Tickets are available at papace-theatre.com; however, more information can be found at summersanta.org.

All proceeds from the event benefit Summer Santa which provides area children with summer camp scholarships, back-to-school clothes, books, toys, seasonal soccer activities and medical physicals. Since 1997, this all volunteer charity (yep, no paid staff here) has made an impact in the lives of more than 35,000 children.
