A Keller middle school teacher has been arrested and accused of having an improper relationship with a student, taking her at least twice to his Haltom City apartment, Haltom City police said Monday.
Authorities identified the teacher as Chad Eric Bearden, 34, of Haltom City. He surrendered to authorities on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.Bearden was employed as a drama teacher at Hillwood Middle School in Fort Worth. The school is in the Keller school district.Haltom City police began an investigation on Dec. 22 after Keller school officials alerted authorities to the possible relationship.A 17-year-old high school student had told her parents about the relationship and her parents had notified school officials, Haltom City police said Monday.The girl told authorities that she had gone to Bearden's apartment on two separate occasions, Haltom City police said.Bearden was arrested on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.Bearden has since resigned, said Bryce Nieman, a school district spokesman.
