ARLINGTON -- Police are investigating a collision involving a school bus and a white Mercedes that happened early Monday on Interstate 20 between Collins Street and Matlock Road.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was struck by the Mercedes and ended up in a ditch near the McDonald's, according to a police spokesman and the Arlington Police Department Twitter feed.

Six special education students from Bowie High School were on the bus, however no injuries have been reported, police said.

Eastbound traffic was backed up during the morning commute on I-20 from Mansfield Highway (287) to Highway 360 as authorities investigated but has started to recover.

Police were alerted to the crash about 6:55 a.m.

The bus was moved out of the ditch and headed to the school about 8 a.m., a school official reported.
