Who wouldn't like free barbecue for one year, or at least cheap barbecue for one day?

If you're a fan of Dickey's Barbecue Pit, you may want to think about getting in line early for the grand opening of a new store at 951 N. Beach St. in Fort Worth next week.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 6, the store will pick three customers to receive free barbecue for one year. Names will be drawn from a hat.

The lucky winners will receive four vouchers totaling $40 for each month -- $480 worth of barbecue. The four vouchers can be used all at once each month or spread out, a Dickey's spokeswoman said.

During the grand opening, diners can feast on the chain's Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwich for $1.

The Fort Worth store, which opened Nov. 3, is one of four Texas locations hosting grand openings in January. The others are in Seminole, Mission and San Antonio.

The Fort Worth store is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Posting for points

Earning reward points every time you swipe your debit card is not unusual. But how about earning reward points for posting that transaction on Facebook?

That will be possible for customers of PointBank, a Denton County bank with branches in Argyle, Denton, Flower Mound and Lewisville.

PointBank is the latest community bank to sign up with fisoc, an Austin company that develops social media programs for credit unions and small banks. The company's BuzzBanking rewards program allows customers to earn points for various transactions, such as getting a new loan or using a debit card. Points can be doubled by shopping at participating local merchants, and more can be accumulated by sharing that experience on Facebook.

The service provides marketing for the bank and the merchant, and points can be redeemed for gift cards.

Fisoc was founded last year by many of the same players who launched FundsXPress, an online banking pioneer that was sold to First Data in 2007. PointBank joins about a dozen other financial institutions in Texas that use BuzzBanking.

"The DFW region is very important to us," said Jay Valanju, CEO of fisoc. "Our goal is to provide forward-thinking community and independent banks with the tools to compete with the multinational financial firms."
