Suspected burglar shot in Weatherford home

A Weatherford man shot an intruder he found in his home early Tuesday.

The homeowner, John Forrest Sr., told police that he and his wife woke at about 1 a.m. and discovered a man inside their house, in the 700 block of West Simmons St., Weatherford police said in a news release Tuesday morning.

"At gunpoint, Forrest ordered the suspect to the ground, however, the suspect did not comply with his commands and a struggle ensued," the release states.

Police said Forrest fired one round and struck the intruder's left side.

Police identified the man as Khristopher Lynn Knight, 27. Knight was treated at a hospital for "non-life-threatening injuries," before being released to Weatherford police.

Knight faces a charge of burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony.

Forrest and his wife were not injured in the incident, the news release states.
