Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo surprised students at Cedar Hill High School on Tuesday when he responded to a question by saying that he and his wife Candice were expecting a child.

Romo was there along with receiver Miles Austin to speak to teens as part of a drug prevention campaign. One student asked Romo if he had any kids; Romo then dropped the bombshell, "I got one on the way. My wife's pregnant."

Romo married the former Candice Crawford five months ago.

Dorsett salutes Murray

Hall of Famer and legendary Cowboys running back Tony Dorsett didn't know much about running back DeMarco Murray before Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

After watching Murray rush for 253 yards, breaking Dorsett's single-game rookie rushing record of 206 and Emmitt Smith's overall mark of 237, Dorsett said Murray might be the real deal.

"Where has he been?" Dorsett asked Tuesday. "He certainly made his presence known. That wasn't a great defense he was going against, but this is the NFL. He did it against an NFL defense. I like his burst. I like his toughness. He looks like he is the real deal. I hope he is not a one-game wonder. If he can stay healthy, he is going to put some pressure on some people over there."

Murray was nominated for the NFL's ground player of the week along with Chicago's Matt Forte and Houston's Arian Foster.

Return concerns

Receiver Dez Bryant has returned to his role as the Cowboys' primary punt returner and it has owner Jerry Jones worried.

Bryant suffered a deep thigh bruise on a return in the season opener against the New York Jets and didn't return a punt again until Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Jones said earlier this season that he wanted Bryant to be used judiciously on returns because of the risk of injury -- not so much from other teams but because of Bryant's refuse-to-go-down attitude.

"Now, the game is one that you risk injury on every play, but because he just refuses to go down -- which is a great thing about him -- then you've got to watch using that in situations like kick returns," Jones said on his weekly radio show. "We'll monitor that as the year goes. We'll play that by ear as to when he'll actually return the ball. We've got to watch him.

"I'm not going to say he's injury prone, but I will say he's more subject to getting hit and hurt with the way he stands up and fights it than probably any player we've got. We've got to get others ready to return those kicks."

More tryouts

The Cowboys worked out four players on Tuesday.

The players were former Eagles guard Nick Cole, former Bills tackle Langston Walker and safeties Chris Horton and C.C. Brown.
