General Motors' Cadillac division, Cadillac dealers and 19 Texas celebrities launched a program Thursday to help raise public awareness, volunteers and funds for six charities in the state's four major metro areas.

The celebrities of Team Escalade Texas, headed by former Dallas Cowboys star receiver Drew Pearson, drove 13 new 2012 Cadillac Escalades from the GM assembly plant in Arlington to Discovery Gardens in Fair Park to kick off the event.

"Team Escalade Texas will change some lives. It begins here today," Pearson said to GM workers, celebrities and others gathered at the Arlington plant.

The celebrities include several former Cowboys and other Texas sports stars. They will personally work with the charities in Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Cadillac and the dealers will provide public service ads urging the public to vote for their favorite charity, make donations and get involved.
