A bye week was on the books for many area teams Friday night.
The teams that did play probably wished they also had taken the week off.Swift-moving storms Friday night had a hand in delaying, canceling or rescheduling all 31 games involving area teams.Most games started 60 to 90 minutes after their usual 7:30 p.m. start times. Others started and stopped more than once.The Colleyville Heritage-Grapevine game did not kick off until 9:43 p.m.No way MidwayEverman had a rough start throwing the football and fell behind 20-0 against Waco Midway in a nondistrict clash at J.E. Marr Stadium.Forty-five minutes after kickoff, the game was halted because of lightning storms and the game was called a few minutes later with 8:55 left in the second quarter.The game does not count and will not be rescheduled, officials said. Midway is 2-1on the season and Everman 1-1.Everman suffered three interceptions in six attempts before the game was called.Midway linebacker Wesley Abercrombie picked off the first pass of the game and returned it for a touchdown.
