FORT WORTH -- Several hundred people -- including a billionaire, Fort Worth firefighters and scores of TCU students -- danced outdoors in triple-digit heat as part of a "flash mob" for a video shoot to raise cancer awareness.

The video of the dance, set to the song We Fight Back by Texas Christian University alumnus Tim Halperin, will be featured at halftime of TCU's annual "Frogs for the Cure" football game Oct. 28 against Brigham Young University. Frogs for the Cure works in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise money for research for a cure for breast cancer.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who did a different kind of dancing when he appeared on ABC's Dancing With the Stars a few years ago, was among the hundreds who participated.

"I recognize heart when I see it," Cuban told the crowd of dancers at an indoor rehearsal shortly before the outdoor video shoot. "When people know that things aren't going the way they planned or aren't going the way they wanted, they don't get down on themselves. ... They get after it and make things happen, just like this event."

Tim Halperin, who wrote and performed We Fight Back, was also among those dancing for the video. Halperin, an Omaha, Neb., native but a proud Horned Frog, was a semifinalist during season 10 of American Idol. He's also a longtime supporter of Frogs for the Cure.

Other local notables who participated included Mike and Rosie Moncrief; country singer Pat Green; KXAS/Channel 5's Deborah Ferguson and her husband, WBAP/820 AM's Steve Lamb; WFAA/Channel 8's Paige McCoy-Smith; TV personality Scott Murray; and KTVT/Channel 11 weather forecaster Garry Seith. The dance also included many cancer survivors, including Westlake Mayor Laura Wheat, members from several TCU athletic and dance teams, fraternities and sororities, as well as Fort Worth firefighters.
