Another Texas tie-up is coming to Texas 26 this weekend.

The highway, also known as Ira E. Woods Avenue, closed at 8 p.m. Friday underneath Texas 114 so workers can set bridge girders as part of the massive DFW Connector project.

The highway is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, then close again from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night Monday through July 23, according to NorthGate Constructors, the project's management company.

"This will not be an easy closure," said Grapevine traffic engineer Mike Pacelli. "But we want the bridges built."

Though the city is not responsible for the Connector project, Pacelli said, several police officers will help deal with traffic issues.

The tricky part for drivers will be navigating the complicated detours, he said.

"There will be difficult detours due to the [railroad] tracks and the roadway's configuration," Pacelli said.

Other closures include:

Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night: All westbound lanes on Texas 114 will be closed from Texan Trail to west of William D. Tate Avenue as work continues on the Texas 121 south flyover bridge. Detour: westbound 114 frontage road.

Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night: Westbound Texas 114 at International Parkway north of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport will be closed for bridge work. Detour: north on Texas 121 to the Sandy Lake Road exit, U-turn, south on 121 to 114.

Monday and Tuesday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night: All lanes on eastbound Texas 114 will be closed from Texas 26 to east of the William D. Tate Avenue offramp for overhead bridge work. Detour: westbound frontage road, returning to 114 just west of Main Street.
