GRAPEVINE -- An explosion at an industrial plant sent thick black smoke rolling over Texas 114 on Friday afternoon and shut down a service road.

The fire at GT Products started just before 3 p.m. but caused traffic headaches through rush hour. The access road reopened at 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the five-alarm blaze at 501 Industrial Blvd.

Hazardous chemicals were involved, prompting extra caution from firefighters, said Lt. Todd Dearing, a Grapevine police spokesman.

Dearing said there was no danger to the public.

No injuries were reported, but a couple of firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, he said.

According to the company's website, GT Products supplies silicone, plastic and other products.
