Some Fort Worth offices will close Friday for furlough
FORT WORTH -- Most nonessential city offices will be closed Friday because city employees must take a day off without pay.
The closed offices will include City Hall, the municipal courts, libraries and community centers.
Police and fire protection, trash service and the city's call centers will operate normally.
Some city operations that are funded outside the main budget will also be open, such as municipal golf courses, the Fort Worth Convention Center and the Will Rogers Memorial Center.
Many of the same offices will be closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.
The city imposed eight furlough days on most employees outside the Police and Fire departments to cut costs. Most of the days coincide with holiday weekends, meaning that city offices are closed for four days instead of three.
