I recently heard that the price of 3D and regular movies were increasing, so when my son asked to see How to Train You Dragon 3D I decided to do my homework and it was a lot of work. First of all, I checked the movie listings in the paper, and was annoyed to realize that not all show prices are listed for the theaters and I couldn’t even find a listing for AMC Theaters! It doesn’t surprise me that they aren’t listed after going online and seeing their prices.

The cheapest a family of four can go to a 3D movie is to a matinee at Starplex or theWest 7th Street Movie Tavern (Mon-Fri Only for Movie Tavern) for $7 per person and spend $28 before popcorn or soda. However, if you would like to spend more money for a family of four, you can go to AMC after 4 p.m. and spend $13.50 per adult and $10.50 per child. That's $20 more than Starplex and West 7th Street Movie Tavern!
