Listen to it: 'Simon Bloom' audio books will keep kids captivated
Listen to it
During a recent car trip, my whole family became captivated by two suspenseful and amusing audio books. Michael Reisman's Simon Bloom: The Gravity Keeper introduces the title character, an ordinary sixth-grader who acquires extraordinary abilities after a magical book falls on his head. Suddenly, Simon can control the laws of physics -- think gravity and friction -- as he faces evil forces who want the tome's magic for themselves.
In the sequel, Simon Bloom: The Octopus Effect, our hero and his friends contend with mixed-up physics and biology as they battle a villainess. Ages 8 and up. Listening Library, $18 to $40, CD or download.
