Sunday's agenda: art for valentines and kids, Super Bowl fasching
Make glass art for your valentine
Turn up the heat for Valentine's Day by working with molten glass. The experts at the Vetro glass art studio in Grapevine will help you make a glass-blown heart or flower for your loved one, using colors of your choice. Flowers are $25; hearts, $35. Go today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no appointment necessary), or try next weekend (10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday). 701 S. Main St., Suite 103, Grapevine. 817-251-1668; www.vetroartglass.com.
Fasching conscious
It's Super Bowl Sunday, but how about trying some different cuisine instead of the usual game-day chips and dip? The German Deli in Colleyville, 5100 Texas 121, is staging its fourth annual Fasching Fest noon-5 p.m. today. Or, in keeping with the Super Bowl theme, let's call it Fasching Fest IV. Peter Kau will be playing German party music, and Ron Slade will serve as master of ceremonies. There will be a costume contest, food-, wine- and beer-tasting, games, kid-oriented activities and door prizes. While you're there, have a grilled bratwurst on a crusty roll for a nominal cost. For more information, call 817-354-8101.
Art appreciation
Young artists, join a special class for kids today at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Through the monthly First Sundays program, kids get a lesson in drawing based on works in the museum's collection. Today's class, 2-3:30 p.m., is led by Fort Worth artist Alvaro Perez. It's free and designed for kids ages 6 to 12; children younger than 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Class size is limited to 20, so arrive early and sign up at the information desk. Bring pencils and a sketchbook (or you can buy them in the museum's gift shop). And parents, stick around and see the museum while you wait; it's the first Sunday of the month, so gallery admission is free. The Modern is at 3200 Darnell St. in Fort Worth. 817-738-9215; www.themodern.org.
