Dear Editor:
The Colleyville City Council would like input for the new city logo.Well, if you're going to do a true logo for the city, make sure that you have something that describes the million-dollar homes and the 50-cent roads. That's the true city of ours.Ken Sauer, Colleyville Dear Editor:I was alarmed by the recent front-page article featuring a real estate developer, Charles Hodges, proclaiming to an invitation-only group that Colleyville needs cheaper, high-density housing along Hwy 26. Colleyville already seems to have a problem filling the many current vacant town homes on the market within the Village.Hodges is wanting to promote the high-density housing in order to attract the young and divorcees.Hodges states that Colleyville is losing its "young professionals to other cities, such as Southlake" and says that they cannot afford "$600,000 homes." The median age of residents in Colleyville and Southlake are almost the same at 40 and 37-years-old, respectively. The median house values in Colleyville, at $413,000, are significantly lower that Southlake's $522,000.My husband and I are both professionals and in our early 30s. We moved to Colleyville 5 years ago. After carefully scoping the demographics of the surrounding cities, we chose Colleyville for its quiet, established, beautiful neighborhoods, its family-oriented community, its excellent schools and low crime. Bringing in cheaper, "high-density" housing will only reduce our property values, hurt our schools and usher in more traffic and congestion. It will change the face of our beautiful community and mar what currently sets us apart from surrounding cities.Brandy Oetman, Colleyville
