Losing Family Over the Holidays

By x_Melissa_x on 01/07/10 16:27

My Grandpa died on the 27th of December. I can't tell you how shocked I was when I received the call that he has passed. My Grandpa was still living at home with my Grandma. In fact, they just celebrated thier 66th Anniversary this past year.

I knew my Grandpa severed in WWII, but I didn't know much else. He really didn't like to talk about the war. He actually served six years in the 7th Cavalry Division. His highest rank was Sergeant but when he was Honorably Discharged he was listed as Private First Class. Apparently, he was known for punching his commanding officers in the face.

My Grandpa was also the Little League New Mexico District 2 Administrator for 45 years. Wow, 45 years! I don't think anyone else will ever match that.

I will say, that I think my Grandpa's greatest accomplishedment was loving my Grandma. It was so sweet to see the joy in his eyes when he talked about her. It was so obvious the love they had for one another. Thank you for that, Grandpa, and thank you for the love you showed me. I love and miss you tons!
