We don’t always get a lot of time together, just the two of us, because when we’re at home – there are all the distractions: Dad and brother, TV, cell phone, homework, friends, sleeping, eating. These distractions take precedence in the rhythm of the day, so that “Do you have lunch money?” is our deepest conversation. I don’t know if this lack of real conversation happens more with boys than girls, or not?

He sees sports as a way of getting where he wants – and that is to travel. He wants to know four languages. He would love to live somewhere he could snowboard often. All are great goals and I told him all are attainable just for the fact that he knows what he wants.
What a great kid and what a joy it was to spend some time in the car – really talking – with my son.
