A Fort Worth man faces 10 years in prison after admitting to authorities that he used the Internet to download child pornography, a federal prosecutor said.
Ronald Scott Young, 42, pleaded guilty Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Bleil in Fort Worth, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Young was arrested on Sept. 15 at his home on one federal child pornography charge, but he was later released on bond, Jacks said. The arrest was made by agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) who visited Young's home, based on a lead from fellow agents in Sacramento. That information "concerned a target at the Young residence who was trading child pornography over the Internet," Jacks said in the news release. Agents searched Young’s computer system and found the pornography, Jacks said. He added that Young subsequently admitted he got the images via the Internet. According to a criminal complaint filed by agents in the case, Young told them that he preferred to see images of boys, ages 13-15."Young stated that he only watched and collected child pornography and never acted out on any children," according to the complaint. "At the conclusion of the interview Young stated, 'I always knew this day would come."'I knew it was wrong.'"Sentencing has been set for April 12, before U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means. Young faces a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. He will be required to register as a sex offender, Jacks said.BILL MILLER, 817-390-7684
