Denton police are looking for a man who attempted to assault a woman who was jogging Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was in the 3200 block of Roselawn Drive around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when she stopped to recover from some type of fumes she had just inhaled, said Ryan Grelle, Denton police spokesman.

At the same time, a man in a pickup truck stopped on the pretext of helping her, according to police. As the man approached her, he came up from behind and grabbed her hair, Grelle said.

The woman was able to get away from the man after she struck him in the face, Grelle said. The suspect attempted to grab her again but she was able to run off.

The suspect is described as a medium-build dark haired man who appeared to be in his 40s. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

On the day of the attack, he was wearing a dark navy “trucker” style ball cap that had no writing on it.

The truck is described as being a white single-cab pickup truck that had the words “Denton Services” in black lettering on one its doors.

Denton police don’t believe the suspect is posing as a city employee.
