FRISCO — What else did you expect other than a tie? That’s all FC Dallas and the Los Angeles Galaxy seem to be able to manage these days.

The two struggling Major League Soccer teams tied 1-1 at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday night, FC Dallas’ second consecutive 1-1 tie at home and its third in its past seven league games. That’s nothing compared to the Galaxy, which has eight ties in 10 games this season (1-1-8, 11 points).

FC Dallas, only 1-6-3 with 6 points, surrendered a goal 3 minutes into the game, with Landon Donovan — Team USA’s all-time scoring leader — scoring his sixth goal this season and 90th of his MLS career (16 against FC Dallas).

The home team, playing a man down after Marcelo Saragusa was ejected in the 25th minute for shoving the Galaxy’s Eddie Lewis in the back of the head, tied it in the 31st minute when Drew Moor, at the top of the goal box, headed home a left-footed corner kick by Dave van den Bergh.

It was Moor’s second goal of the season and van den Bergh’s third assist.

After that, they were destined for a tie, although the Galaxy got much the best of play with a 20-9 edge in shots and 8-3 edge in shots on goal. But FC Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse made seven saves.

Donovan’s goal was the result of three FC Dallas defenders being unable to stay with Galaxy attackers. Lewis found Donovan with a left-footed cross and Donovan, tangled up with defender Daniel Torres and with his back to the goal, backheeled the ball into the goal, with Burse coming off his line.

In addition to Saragosa’s red card, the teams combined for six yellow cards.
