KELLER -- A former Keller High School assistant band director has been sentenced to 10 years probation for having sex with a 16-year-old student during her visits to his Fort Worth home.

The girl met with Aaron Daniel Pompa, 26, three times last year to watch Dallas Mavericks games in the spring of 2007, according to arrest and search warrant affidavits and police.

Pompa pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 17 years old last week in Criminal District Court No. 2 in Fort Worth.

The girl told police that she had gone to Pompa's home twice in the spring of 2007 and her last visit was on Aug. 11, 2007.

After her last visit, she told her parents who contacted police.

Pompa, who was hired in August 2005, resigned Aug. 13, 2007.

The same day, Pompa had told a Keller school official that there had been sexual activity during the visits, but he denied that there was sexual intercourse, the affidavits state.

The girl, however, told police that on one occasion Pompa got a condom out of a dresser next to his bed before they had sexual contact.

Pompa, who was married at the time, was arrested Aug. 17, 2007.
