EULESS -- A 12-year-old boy riding a bicycle was hit by a pickup Tuesday after police say the truck failed to stop at an intersection, police said.

The pickup driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, police said.

Police identified the driver as Donald Strickel, 52, of Euless. He remained in the Euless City Jail Wednesday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The boy, who was not identified, was taken to Harris Methodist H.E.B. hospital in Bedford for minor injuries, police said.

The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of W. Euless Boulevard.

The boy was riding through W. Euless Boulevard and Skyway Drive when he was hit by the pickup, police said.

Strickel stopped his pickup immediately after the accident and he was arrested shortly after that, police said.
