Gas well worker dies after accident in Burleson

A worker at a gas well in Burleson died Tuesday morning after a collar used in drilling fell and injured the man.

Burleson police identified the worker as Billy Escobedo, 34 of Runaway Bay.

The well, owned by Williams Production is on County Road 530B.

The accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. when workers were lifting a collar, or a section of pipe used for drilling. The collar fell, injuring Escobedo.

Escobedo suffered a head injury, police said.
