A Dallas police officer has been fired after being indicted on July 10 on bribery charges, according to a release from the Dallas Police Department.

Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle fired Senior Corporal Minh Tran after an internal affairs investigation determined that Tran was demanding and receiving money from a Vietnamese family so that he would not report potential gambling violations, according to the release.

Tran is alleged to have received money on at least three occasion and was arrested in May, according to the release.

He was assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division and had been employed by the Dallas Police Department since September 2001, according to the release.
