Much of Azle was in the dark Thursday morning after severe thunderstorms knocked out power to 90 percent of the town and, at 3:30 p.m., officials were still trying to restore power to part of the city.

Fire Chief Will Scott, who is also the Azle Emergency Management Coordinator, said Thursday morning that 911 phone lines were working, but that the city of Azle's phone lines were down. By afternoon, Oncor crews had restored power to the majority of Azle's commercial areas, but crews were still working on getting electricity to residential areas.

"We are hoping we will have the majority of the city with power this evening," Scott said.
