A lack of nearby fire hydrants made fighting a three-alarm house fire Monday near Eagle Mountain Lake difficult, officials said.

The effort of fire departments from Fort Worth, Eagle Mountain, Aledo, Boyd, Saginaw, Lake Worth, Azle, Sansom Park, Dido, River Oaks, Haslet and Crowley got the fire at a house on the 9200 block of West Fork Trail under control at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, about an hour after it was reported, said Mike Barton, chief of the Eagle Mountain Fire Department.

Randy Renois, Tarrant County fire marshal, said four or five water tankers were brought in to help fight the fire. He said there is no damage estimate yet, but the house was a total loss. A cause has not been determined, Renois said.

The owners of the house were on vacation and not at home, Barton said. No one was injured.
