The National Weather Service tally of damage from Wednesday night's storms as of 8:30 p.m.:

  • A sheriff's deputy reported a tornado touching down in southern Palo Pinto, about nine miles northeast of Morgan Mills, at 6:56 p.m. Reports of downed trees and power poles, as well damaged outbuildings. Tree limbs are reportedly blocking parts of Highway 4. Roofs were damaged in Lipan.

  • Baseball-size hail was reported in Erath County in the Dublin area.

Also Wednesday, there were reports of a "rain-wrapped tornado" over Lake Granbury, meaning the twister was surrounded by heavy rain and difficult to see from the ground.

There was also a report that officials at Hulen Mall ordered everyone to the first floor, and there were to be no shoppers upstairs until the tornado threat had passed.

The worst of Wednesday night's storm that dumped heavy rains moved through northern Hood, Johnson and southern Tarrant counties.

Thanks to NWS meteorologist Joe Harris for the update.
