FORT WORTH -- Police are considering upgraded charges against a 29-year-old man arrested last week for suspicion of intoxication assault after the driver of the vehicle that he allegedly struck died over the weekend from his injuries.

Roger Flores, 28, was pronounced dead at 9:55 a.m. Saturday at John Peter Smith Hospital. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office has ruled that Flores died from multiple organ system failure due to suffering blunt force trauma in the rollover wreck.

Rogelio Castillo has been free on bond since April 7, a day after the wreck.

Sgt. Rodney Bangs, supervisor of the traffic investigation unit, said detectives are still investigating the case but will likely seek an upgraded charge of intoxication manslaughter against Castillo.

Castillo was driving a silver Ford F150 pickup eastbound in the 3300 block of N.W. Loop 820 about 11:34 p.m. April 6 when he changed lanes in front of Flores' Chevy Trailblazer, striking the Trailblazer’s front left corner, Bangs said.

The impact caused both vehicles to lose control and roll. Both ended up on the service road of Loop 820, Bangs said.

Castillo and three passengers inside his pickup were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. Flores was alone in his vehicle, Bangs said.
