James Joseph Reed III, 26, a convicted sex offender from Fort Worth, was arrested Sunday by agents of the attorney general's office for failing to comply with parole restrictions requiring that he remain at his residence on Halloween night.

The fugitive unit with the attorney general's office arrested Reed at his residence for not being at home on Halloween night after the issuance of a warrant, according to a news release. Reed was one of four sex offenders arrested statewide for parole violations that occurred on Halloween.

All four arrests by the attorney general's office were made during Operation Safe Halloween, a crackdown that targeted previously convicted sex offenders whose parole conditions required them to avoid young trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

Reed was sentenced to four years in the Texas Youth Commission for indecency with a child by sexual contact. The victim was a 10-year-old girl.
