The 2014 Go Red For Women Luncheon took place at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel on Feb. 28 with guests decked out in their best red attire to take a stand against heart disease, the cause of more deaths among women than all types of cancer, AIDS and accidents combined. The annual event included health screenings, hands-only CPR instruction, cooking demos and a silent auction. Special guest speaker for the luncheon was Granbury native and four-time Olympic gold medalist Dana Vollmer.
The Tarrant County Medical Society Alliance and Foundation threw its annual Medicine Ball, benefiting community health projects, Feb. 1 at the Cendera Center. Themed Glitz, Glamour & Gatsby, the party saw guests dressed in their best Roaring Twenties attire as they dined, sipped cocktails and danced to Dallas-based band Motion.
Mansfield Cares hosted its 15th annual Charity Ball on Feb. 22 at Walnut Creek Country Club. Guests were encouraged to dress in their best disco duds to match the nights theme of Peace, Love & Mansfield Cares. The party, which benefited various charitable causes in the area, featured auctions, games, gourmet dining and music from the disco band Le Freak.
Stage West held its annual Acting with the Stars event Feb. 14 at the Fort Worth Clubs Horizon Room. The main event of the evening was an acting competition starring professional actors paired with local celebrities including Bud Kennedy, Janice Knebl, Therese Moncrief, Andy Taft, Steve Tatum and Donatella Trotti.
Benefiting the Joan Katz Breast Center, the Beyond the Bag fundraiser took place at the Champions Club inside Amon G. Carter Stadium on Jan. 25. The evening featured a silent auction of more than 100 designer bags and a raffle of a Lexus IS 250, plus food by chef Tim Love and live music from the Hailey-Zukoski Jazz Trio and Professor D.
The eighth annual Mid-Cities SOS Celebrity Chefs event took place Jan. 19 at the Hurst Conference Center. A roster of local chefs, including Jon Bonnell, Brian Olenjack and Donatella Trotti, prepared a variety of entrees and desserts for guests to sample. The evening, themed Step Into New Lives, benefited SafeHaven of Tarrant County.
The Junior League of Fort Worths second annual Grand Entry Gala kicked off the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on Jan. 11 at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Guests enjoyed a reception of cocktails and hors doeuvres, followed by dinner and live entertainment from country duo Big & Rich.

The Jewel Charity Ball, benefiting Cook Childrens Medical Center, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on Dec. 14 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The black-tie event was attended by 1,700 guests and included a cocktail reception, dinner and music from Aubree-Anna with Trio and NRG. The big draw of the night was the silent auction and raffle, which included a 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLK250, a $10,000 shopping spree at Neiman Marcus and a trip to Budapest.
Not even the ice and snow could diminish the mood at the Arts Council of Fort Worths annual Toast of the Town. Held at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel, this years event marked the Arts Councils 50th anniversary. With a Pop art theme that requested guests to dress in their best Andy Warhol-inspired cocktail attire, the evening included a cocktail reception, dinner and live entertainment by the vocal rock band Face.
