The Fort Worth Opera launched its 2013 festival season at Bass Hall on April 20. The Moulin Rouge-themed celebration featured live entertainment, including can-can dancers, accordion music, a hula-hoop performer and a replica of the Eiffel Tower set up in the building. The Henry House Foundation held its new benefit, The Showdown at Hell's Half Acre, a no-limits Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament, at the Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. on April 20. The 11th annual Empty Bowls event, presented by the Tarrant Area Food Bank, invited guests to a day of food, fun and fundraising March 28 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Guests enjoyed food and desserts from more than 30 local restaurants and caterers. They also had the opportunity to bid in two auctions, with prizes including bowls signed by celebrity chefs and entertainers. At the event’s end, each guest chose a hand-painted keepsake bowl.
